Eurowings expands its flight program from New York to Düsseldorf

  • On December 1, 2018, Eurowings started operating six weekly flights on the Newark (EWR) - Düsseldorf (DUS) route
  • New flights complement New York (JFK) route
  • All flights to and from New York offer BIZclass and “full flat” reclining seat

East Meadow, NY, December 3, 2018 – On December 1, 2018, Eurowings began operating six weekly flights from Düsseldorf to New York’s Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), in addition to its already existing connections to and from JFK. Eurowings assumed responsibility of the connection, which had previously been offered by Lufthansa.

The flights to DUS, operated by an Airbus A330, take off from New York’s Newark Liberty International Airport every day, except Tuesday, with the flight number EW 1113 at 4:50 p.m. local time, arriving in Düsseldorf the next day at 6:05 a.m. The return flight departs Düsseldorf at 11:45 a.m. as flight number EW 1112 and lands in Newark at 2:50 p.m. local time.

Tickets to and from Düsseldorf, the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, can be booked online at www.eurowings.com or through the Eurowings app for smartphones and tablets. Eurowings customers arriving in Düsseldorf also benefit from a codeshare agreement with Lufthansa that makes fast and convenient transfers possible to destinations in the network of the parent company. Furthermore, Eurowings also offers codeshares with United Airlines, thus expanding its reach even more.

“We are delighted to be able to further expand our long-haul offer from New York’s Newark airport with six flights per week to Düsseldorf, in addition to our JFK route. Our customers traveling to Germany's most populous region, with over 18 million inhabitants, will benefit from an even more attractive range of direct connections in Europe and worldwide," said Christophe Allard, Eurowings Group Business Development Manager The Americas.

With a growing long-haul program, the 2018/19 winter flight schedule takes Eurowings’ passengers from Düsseldorf to: New York, Fort Myers and Miami (USA), Cancun (Mexico), Punta Cana and Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic), Varadero and Havana (Cuba), Montego Bay (Jamaica) and Bangkok (Thailand). The Lufthansa Group subsidiary offers its passengers a larger route selection from Düsseldorf Airport compared to any other airport it operates from, as DUS is its biggest hub in Germany. The largest airport in North Rhine-Westphalia has become the home base for 40 Eurowings aircraft, with more than 1,700 flights per week leaving for 95 destinations in Germany and around the world.

Fully-featured Business Class on all flights to Düsseldorf

All flights from New York to Düsseldorf, as well as from all other destinations in the U.S. (Miami and Fort Myers in Florida; Las Vegas as of summer 2019), offer a BIZclass– a fully-featured Business Class with “full-flat” seats: at the touch of a button, the comfortable seat transforms into a bed that is 6.5 feet long and completely horizontal (“full flat”). Due to the high demand for a Business Class section on the EWR route, Eurowings is operating an aircraft with a larger BIZclass, making 30 BIZclass seats available to passengers (instead of the previously offered 18).
