  • Long-haul: Launch of flight service to Montreal and a return to Miami
  • Austrian Airlines to offer higher frequencies to Germany in the summer
  • Numerous vacation destinations in Greece, Italy and Spain in the flight schedule

In the summer of 2019, Austrian Airlines will once again offer a dense network of destinations with an increased number of flight connections to Germany. Vacation travelers can choose from a variety of destinations, including Greece, Italy, Spain and many more. In terms of long-haul travel, Austrian will launch a new route: “We already look forward to our inaugural flight to Montreal. Moreover, we will introduce two additional flight connections to Tokyo in the summer and thus fly there daily,” said Andreas Otto, Member of the Management Board and CCO of Austrian Airlines. The summer flight schedule takes effect on March 31, 2019.

Flight service to Montreal as of April and even more flights to Japan and the USA

The first Austrian Airlines flight to Montreal will depart from Vienna on April 29, 2019, with daily flights scheduled to the Canadian metropolis. Frequencies to Tokyo will be increased following the successful resumption in 2018. One Austrian Airlines aircraft will take off daily for Japan, two flights more compared to the previous year.

In addition to Montreal, North America is represented with five other destinations in the summer flight schedule, including Miami, which will be served four times a week. Austrian Airlines will also increase its flight offering to the popular tourist destination of Los Angeles with an additional weekly connection, thus serving it on a daily basis. New York will also receive an additional flight, meaning that one Austrian Airlines aircraft will fly daily to both New York airports -  JFK and Newark. In total, Austria’s home carrier will have as many as 46 weekly flights heading towards North America in its flight schedule.

Continued focus on Germany

Austrian Airlines will once again increase the number of flights from Vienna to Germany in the upcoming summer season. Austria’s home carrier will fly up to 39 times per week to Hamburg, which is up to 11 connections more than in the 2018 summer flight schedule. Berlin-Tegel will be served up to 56 flights and Düsseldorf up to 40 times - an increase of two flights per week. Stuttgart will receive an additional connection and will thus have up to 32 flights per week. In total, Austrian Airlines is expanding its flight offering from Vienna to Germany by up to 15 frequencies each week, thus offering a total of up to 263 weekly connections from Vienna to Germany.

Vacation in Greece, Italy or Spain

Beginning this summer, Austrian Airlines will fly up to 56 times a week to 17 destinations in Greece. This will include popular holiday islands such as Crete (Chania and Heraklion), Corfu, Karpathos and Rhodes.

Italy also continues to be a coveted holiday locale and therefore flights to 12 Italian destinations are included in the summer schedule, such as Catania, Olbia, Cagliari and, most recently, Brindisi. In total, Austrian Airlines will offer up to 112 weekly flights to destinations in Italy.

Travelers going to Spain can take advantage of Austrian Airlines flights to the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands. The flights are operated once a week from Vienna to Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Tenerife, twice to Ibiza and once to Menorca.

Central and Eastern Europe remain core markets

Austrian Airlines continues with its dense network of offerings in Central and Eastern Europe. The airline will offer as many as 441 flights per week to 33 destinations in the region, including 42 weekly flights to the Ukrainian cities of Kiev, Dnipro, Lviv and Odessa.

Three destinations in Romania -  Bucharest, Iasi and Sibiu - will be serviced:  up to 47 times per week. Austrian Airlines’ offering to Russia amounts to 27 weekly flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg and Krasnodar.

Up to 20 flights per week will be offered to Belgrade, an increase of two frequencies from the previous summer flight schedule. Skopje will also receive an additional connection and will thus have up to 14 flights a week.

AUA has been part of the Lufthansa Group since 2009. Austrian Airlines is also a member of the Star Alliance, the first global alliance of international airlines.
